Mom’s Famous White Bread

If using active dry yeast: first combine lukewarm water + yeast + honey, and let rest for 5-10 minutes until bubbly. Then mix in the rest of your ingredients.

If using instant yeast (or after activating active dry yeast): combine all ingredients in a bowl. Mix well. Cover and let rest until doubled in size. If your house is cold, put the dough somewhere warm (75-85°F is ideal). It will take about 2 hours to double, but depends on your house temperature.

Once dough is risen, you can pour it right into an oiled loaf pan, or dump it onto a floured surface and roll it up before putting it in the pan (to give the bread a smooth top). If making multiple loaves, cut dough into sections, roll each piece up, and place in an oiled loaf pan.

Cover with a towel and let rise while the oven is heating up. Bake at 350°F for about 30 minutes, or until brown. Let rest for 5 minutes before eating.
